We were supposed to have the activities until 4pm, but as the school needs to close at 1pm, we only played Amazing race.
There are 5 stations: One-Legged race; Let's Go!! Rubber Band; Jump everybody Jump; Show the action; obstacle.
A total of 5 groups, Senior-Junior in each group.
Yeah, so I hope your have fun :)

Hello!

Hehehe, this is my first time posting on the blog. I am so excited. LOL, I know it’s kind of lame but I hardly ever get a chance to touch the computer.

How were the holidays? I hope it wasn’t such a bore. We had practice nearly everyday except for Wednesday and Sunday. It was tiring indeed however it was also fun. Don’t you agree? (Sorry for the awkward sentence structure, I am in a half-conscious state of mind now and my brain is not working perfectly fine yet).

Oh my gosh! It’s exactly less than a month! 30 days to be exact. Time flies..

Have you girls finish your holiday assignments yet? To be honest, I have not finish most of it yet. I’m left with Art and Amath.

Anyways thank you to Afiqa and Grace for helping the Sop one one in their parts. You know, page 3 bar 12. I hope the sound sounds better now.

The choir has made quite a progress since the start of the year. I think we can do better though. It’s a team effort kind of thing like what Mr Chen said. Reckon we have to work on our pitching and facial expression. (:

Heyyy, would you girls like to have an inter-sectional games day? To replace the millions of choir outing we might have. Rachel did say that she’d try to organize more outings so that the choir will bond together. To save money, why not we have a games day every term or so? Don’t forget the choir camp! Water bomb!

The seniors (Sec 4 and 5) are going to step down very soon. We should cherish every moment we have with them alright? I bet they are very stressful with schoolwork, choir and the upcoming O levels right now. We should make them happy during choir so that they would get a chance to step away from reality for a while. I think we all should too. Smile SMILE, I heard it reduces wrinkles you know. Hahas.

Don’t forget about the food ban. Gosh, the horror. Lols, just bear with it for a month then we can party. Gah I have nothing else to say.

Federation for Choral Music (Singapore) is presenting the Choral Elite 2 where there are performances by the Hong Kong Children's Choir, conducted by Miss Kathy Fok as well as CHIJ Katong Primary Choir, conducted by Miss Lim Bee Na.

Day Six: Last Day!

Today is the last day in Taiwan. We had so much fun here. We had a great time, espeically when the results were announced.

Our flight is at 2.30pm. We woke up at 8am, feeling quite miserable to leave. We cherished every moment by hanging out in our rooms, simply talking about our feelings and memories of the trip to one another.

Even though we were sad to leave, Singapore is still our home and that's where the heart is.

Anyway the choir bought a lot of gifts for their family and friends. Hope you will like the gifts! Looking forward to seeing them! We really missed everyone.

Day Five

Today we went to Taipei from Yilan so that we could get to the plane on Wednesday on time.

First we went to the Gugong Museum. We saw many antiques, but unfortunately, have no pictures to show for it as we were not allowed to take photographs! Many of us bought souvenirs in the gift shop too.

Before lunch, we went to Zhong Lie Ci to catch the change of guards.

Alas we were too late! But we managed to see the two guards who were specially trained to stand like a statue. They are not allowed to move even if there were flies flying towards them!

After lunch, we headed to Taipei 101 to buy souvenirs.

Following which we trotted to Taipei's biggest bookstore.

There were lots of books and other things which were all very interesting.

After our delicious dinner, we went to Shilin Night Market. The food, clothes and items are very nice and unique as they are not found in Singapore!

The hotel that we are staying in is very cozy, nice and grand!

Day Four

Hello everyone! ^_^

Today we went for a Master Class conducted by one of the judges in the morning at Fo Guang University. The university is built on a hilltop and the view of Yilan County was breathtaking! We learnt about different choral techniques during the master class and watched videos of other choirs' performance too!

After lunch, we went to a tea plantation at the Zhong Shan recreation agriculture zone. We learnt to pluck tea leaves and filled baskets with the leaves. Although the weather was warm, we had a great experience and enjoyed the tea too!

After that We went to the Xin Liao Falls where the waterfall is magnificant! The water at the falls is so clear!

We had Shabu Shabu for dinner where each of us has a pot of soup to cook whatever we want to eat. It was buffet style and there was a wide variety of food to choose from! Yums!

Back at Fo Guang University, we watched other choirs sing at the friendship concert. Before we knew it, it was the most nervous moment of our trip: Grand Final Competition Results! We all held our breaths as one of the judges say out our score. We got a score of 81.01!!!! We achieved a Gold award!!! It was much more than what we expected and we all shouted with joy! Hip Hip Hooray for Greendale Chorale =) We ended the closing ceremony by performing a mass dance to the song "Nobody" by Wondergirls. Everyone was so high at the end of the ceremony and danced along with us on the stage!

Back at the hotel, Mr Lim treated us to delicious bubble tea!

Now, we are having parties at each others' room! =)

Day Three

Hi readers!

We are still in Taiwan. We are writing tell you about the things we did in Taiwan,

Everyone is still healthy and strong. We had our competition at 10am. It was rather exciting as it is the first time that the choir is participating in an international competition. Most of us were really tired by then, and we had to bear with for quite a while. Some of the Sec One students even fall asleep during short trips!

We woke up early to prepare ourselves for the big event.

At the competition venue, we prepared ourselves with some last-minute rehearsals.

We waited nervously for our turn to enter the stage.

Many of the other schools were better than us, and we sort of lost hope with ourselves. To our amazement, we were named Category Winner!

Oh my gosh!

Some of us just couldn't believe it. Everyone was screaming, jumping and even crying! The boys from Victoria School congratulated us on our achievement! It was really nice and friendly of them!

At night, we performed again in the Grand Prix! We were up against choirs like Victoria School Choir, Hong Kong Saikung Chorus and UCSI University Choir. We were all winners of our respective categories!

After the Grand Prix, we headed to a night market for a well-deserved break!

It was the best day of our life so far!

Day Two

We started off today with the Yilan Folklore Festival where we went to the exchange programme held in the Luodong Sports Park. The weather was very hot, but it was fun! We made a lot of new friends from other schools. There were schools from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Malaysia! We had some time to chat with them about Singapore's education, delicacies and many more.

After the exchange, we went to a rope bridge! There are two parts to the bridge, the "high way" and the "low way". People who wish to participate have to climb up a stairwell to reach the high bridge.

The bridge is tied together with rope and many obstructions were put in place to make crossing the bridge difficult! We had to remove our shoes as well, and it was rather painful to cross the bridge barefooted.

Many of us persevered and we completed the journey! We then climbed down another stairwell and took the low (flat) bridge back to the start point. It was fun!

After lunch, we went to rehearse for tomorrow's competition. It's tomorrow! Good luck to us! =)

Day One

The day that we've been waiting for finally arrived! It was the trip to Taipei for competition!

The trip wasn't that good on the aeroplane, as many of us felt like vomiting. But when we landed, the air stewardesses welcomed us with a bright smile! When we exited the customs, we were stunned at seeing banners with "Greendale Sec. School" waving at us! The organisers certainly put in a lot of effort!

We took a coach to Yilan. It was a long journey. When we arrived at YoAi Hotel, we checked in immediately. We rested for a while before heading for dinner at a Chinese restaurant at level 16. The dinner was good!

After that, we had a choir practice session with Mr. Lim. After the session, we bathed and turned in at 2230 as it had been a long day.

Finally! After so many practices, we are going to Taipei tomorrow! We are all very excited and are looking forward to the trip as we have been anticipating this trip for months! We will do our very best and make Greendale proud! (:

this is your Ex-president Sophia.
I want to thank Mr Lim for teaching us seniors a lot of new stuffs and i am really greatful that he had been conducting the the choir giving us a lot of opportunities to be able meet and perform with other different schools.This experience is something really worth treasuring. Althought i wanted to thank him personally i guess i won't have this chance to so i will write it here.

For the Juniors,the chances for us to meet will be very very low.To some of them this might even be the last time seeing some of us.So sometimes when you see some seniors in school please do wave at them,it's really very nice to do that.As for me seeing juniors from the chorale waving to me when they walked pass me really make me very Happy.

Today,I stepped in choir room I was shocked and suprised!You all sang very well! :)
I believe for the upcoming contest in Taipei you all will do GREAT! I know you all will get something back for Greendale.Don't be too stress,just try your very best is enough :) Thanks for the warmth welcome for the farewell party! And thanks to all my junior for being so hyper and lovely! Last but not the least my beloved secondary 4 senior. It been 4 years we have been together I cherish and treasure the friendship we have spent for this 4 year plus :)Not forgetting our great conductor Mr Lim and our teachers Mr Chen,Miss Beh and Miss Wong thank for taking care of us!:)

Hey hey girls!. Yilin here (: Well it might be long bahs. And i might be very naggy,sorry about it. I know not everyone will read this,but well,i know some will read. (: Firstly,you know back in 2007,my batch s quite a small number of members as u know everyone don't like choir,shy to sing out and have audition so ya,all scared. Then the batch which have grauated,had about 20 members?? Should be ba.. + -. Then plus us,total maybe only 30+? I still remember starting when we went for our very first SYF,the number was about just nice. And we're like only a 2yr old choir,young choir,then we got COP back in 2007. And the comments was hurtfull. People start disliking choir,saying choir won't won anything. Laughting at us. And even becuase of we get COP in the VERY FIRST SFY,i heard that if we next syf don't get anything back,choir will be dispand.. At that time i was like "huh?!" Its our very first SYF you know. We are still like so young.. Worst still everyone compare us with Angkluang&GO(greendale orchastra? i dont knwo the spelling). Which is like Zzzzzz cause they are instruments,how can compare with us when we use our own voice. So i was very very angry that time when i heard all this comments. Soon,our 2 conductors left us. I forgot their names already but i know they were both great. (: Then came Mr tay& 1 more conductor. And the 2008 batchs. Which is now the sec3s. It grew a bit bigger as u know there's still some comments about greendale choir. I remember when i first joined gdlc[greendale chorale) i was very very soft and now,i was louder then the 1st time here though still can improve and i'm more dared to sing out or solo already though still can be better too. Then slowly when mr tay & the other conductor camed. We exprecience solo singing. Everytime doing warmup,mr tay will always suddenly stop and say sing 1 by 1. And everyone will go "Wth. =.=" "Gosh i scared.." And ect. I'm one of those who were scared at first. But slowly i got use to it. And slowly gdlc beocme better and better. Soon lastyear,we had another syf,we train very veyr hard to get something back to let those who look down on us see that gdlc CAN WIN SOMETHING and indeed our hardwork paid off. Though is bronze,but its our hardwork,we were very happy that we got bronze. And soon both left us again. And come our currently conductor,Mr darius lim :D Whom is a great conductor. I remember the 1st day he come here,everyone thought he's friendly & can joke around. But who knows,his 1st day jiu scold Ain. Everyone was like so shock. Then nobody dare to talk. Its very quiet. Until he started talk rot session with us,but we are still very very quiet in the 1st day. And i still remember he had a hard time remembering our names. I remembered he ask me for my name 3 times in the 1st day and i thought he'll remember. In the end i think he still forgets. And funny thing is sometimes he mix up other peoples names. He was strict with us and extremly fierce(ok maybe not so :x). Everyone complain that he's strict&fierce. But as time go by,we found that he's actually fun to be with. He can joke around too. He joke with us sometimes. Though he soemtimes scolds,but its for our own good. He make alot of people cried before in gdlc. Thats why i keep telling him "You very fierce lehs". Later next year junior come in how???? Hahas. Then its like the number of student joining choir also drop alot. From 30+? to 10+ and less then 10 each year. Last year after seniors step down,the choir bcame very very small. But its also hard to control as u know,all is ur friend. You also scared will offence someone unknowly[ok maybe for me only].. Then we train very hard to attract alot of sec1s. And we did it. On the CCA fair,alot of sec1s are interested. We are really very happy you know. (: On the welcoming session for sec1s,Sophia and i was like wow so many sec1s,how to control. Hahas. Thus its even harder to control gdlc. Then soon we stepdown. Which i don't really want to stepdown,cause u know when mr lim haven come,we don't have choir camps,choir exchange,choir outting,having the angel & mortal game. All this bonding activity. If u say choir is boring,i can tell you,yes previously is boring cause we don't have any activits. Until Mr lim camed. He tried to bond choir together by having choir camp,which is greatly done,all thanks to him. And also by having choir outting to sentosa,though he's such a bully to bully us. Heehees. And also choir exchange. And this year he is so much much much friendlier. Really. You girls[sec1s] is very lucky. Oh and the concert lastyear. We never had any concert before. Though its not our concert,but we had our first exprecience particpating in a concert. Somemore its for chairety. I'm glad that before we stepdown i still have a chance to perform,last time wearing my choir gown. 4years of memories in chorale.. Not so easy to express out. You girls now are really very lucky,we use to have physical training. Which we have to run either in the hall or around school or the route outside the staffroom/hall. Not only 1round. Its alot,depending on where we run. Its very very tiredring. Very very. Everyone complain,most skipped pt cause they hate it. I remember once we ran in the hall for don't know how many rounds already and all very tired but our previous conductor mr tay still want us to continue running. Now u all don't have PT,so u're very lucky. Mr lim is a great great conductor gdlc had ever had compare to those previous 4 conductor,though they were great too. So well,i hope u will coroporate with him next session onwards. I bet Avere&Aimin as the p&vp they will guide choir well though they sometimes shout at you girls to get into section or what,what they do is for ur own good. Please do corporate with them allrights. Talk when it is the right time to talk. Today,i'm very touched by the way u all welcome us back,thanks. And what surprise me was,your siging had improved alot alot. All of you. I remember last time we were not as loud&strong as this. Sop2 had improved alot too. Sop1&alto too. Everyone. I know u all had put in hardwork thus having this result. Welldone! Taipei/Taiwan compition is coming,continue to workhard! No matter what u'll get,i'll still be proud of you,i know u all will try your best. Don't be too stress about it. Do ur very best can already. And not only for choir,do ur very best in ur studies too. Especially sec2s,next yr u'll are choosing ur subject combination,if u don't workhard to get what subject u wanted,u might ended up getting subject u dont like. For example,Sophia,Cherlyn. Sophia wanted poa,but her maths isnt good enough so she ended up taking D&T,which is what she don't want,and ended up she had to drop D&T cause she isnt doing well for it. Cherlyn,she also wanted poa and history for her combine humans. But her maths also not that good so she cant take poa,ended up taking art/d&T and for combine humans she eneded up taking geog&ss if not wrong. So see,u got to workhard for what subject u want. Jiayous. And Sec3s,next yr is ur O & N level,i know u girls are already feeling stress,continue to jiayou,u wont gain anything without hardwork. Jiayous! Not forgetting my dear sec1s,though from O & N level,there's still time,but still u have to workhard. (: Put in 100% in everything you do. If u had any toubles,i bet the seniors are willing to lend u their ears to listen or giving u advise. (: Choir had grown alot alot alot. :D Oh and if u dont know,the gifts that the seniors gave out,is gift from the sec4s seniors,hope u girls like it. Oh if u remembered the card i gave to everyone of you,i hope you like it,my art isnt very good so yea.. =X Thats is alo another reason why i didnt choose art/D&T and i'm lucky to get into poa class. I want to thanks MsBeh,MsWong&Mrchen for being there for us to encourage us and not looking down on us. And MR LIM! Thanks for making the times in choir a enjoyable&memorable want. And by bonding the choir by camps&ect. And thanks for not looking down on us too and not giving up on us when we are not puting our hardwork. Thanks. Hey peoples,yes yilin is here again. Hahahahahahas. Today is the last day of the choir practice. And there wont be any until after end of year. Yeah is a sad case to some of us who likes choir. yet tried on theirs.

31st March 2009 - Greendale Concert.

01st April 2009 - SYF Rehearsal at VCH.

02nd April 2009 - Choir Practice as per normal.

04th April 2009 - Choir Exchange at St. Andrew Secondary.

Today was CNY Performance in school and also at Greendale Primary.
You guys did great. So, give yourself a pat on the back. (:
What we noticed was the improvement on the '嘿' in 大地回春.
We thought it was really well done.

We want to take this opportunity to apologise for not updating the blog.
